This course involves either passing the Introduction to Houdini FX Certificate or submitting a portfolio with professional experience and an accompanying reel/resume.
You must demonstrate that you have a basic grasp of how Houdini works in order to bypass the introductory course. Your portfolio must show that you comprehend the concepts covered in the class. These are some of them:
- Creating Geometry
- Simulations of particles
- Simulations of rigid bodies
- Simulations of smoke and pyrotechnics
- Fluid simulations on the flip side
- Rendering and lighting
- Demonstration of compositing abilities and the creation of complicated shots.
Because the pace is quicker and the courses are more complicated in this course, it's critical that you understand how Houdini works. We don't want you to become confused or get behind.
The beginning course is far from simple; you'll learn how to use Houdini to create a variety of standard visual effects.
Because a significant part of our course is about how to display your effects in the best possible light, even if you already have a portfolio but need to improve your presentation abilities, we may still recommend that you complete the introductory course to ensure that you become the greatest artist you can be!
Whether you're not sure if your abilities are adequate, give us your portfolio, and, depending on the circumstances, we'll arrange for a review by the department chair and maybe a student interview.
